The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli will host the 7th round of the Superbike World Championship, where the Team Yamaha of WSBK and WSSP are sponsored by BMC. The circuit is dedicated to the memory of the famous Italian rider, at a track featuring 10 right hand turns and 6 left handers. Measuring an overall length of 4226 metres, with 1850 metres of straights, including the finishing straight of 510 meters.
The asphalt, which was developed with a specific formula to combat the effects of salt and humidity, is definitely more aggressive and abrasive on the tyres than previously combined with high temperatures which might compromise a riders lines during the races. The track is a very sinuous one, the most challenging section is definitely the one after the fast “Curvone”.
This comprises of a series of right-hand corners that require a high mechanical and thermal stress for tyres when the bike is leant over, on the leaning “shoulder”. On the other hand, the straights are quite short and do not allow high “tipping in” speeds but require different braking and acceleration points.
