TOYOTA GAZOO Racing makes a double at the Acropolis

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team achieved an extraordinary double victory in the famous Acropolis Rally in Greece.

The weekend's rain complicated the special stage routes, making the terrain treacherous for many drivers. In the end, those who stayed out of unpleasant situations and avoided trouble managed to prevail.

Kalle Rovanperä and his co-driver Jonne Halttunen won the 2023 edition of the event, increasing their lead over their pursuers in the world rankings. For the Finnish pair it is the second success in three years on Greek soil and this brings them ever closer to an encore of the world title they won last season. In second place, to round off an extraordinary weekend for Toyota, were Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin, who managed to be fast in many stretches and take a well-deserved podium. With this result the drivers of the #33 car move up to second place in the overall standings and set themselves in pursuit of their teammates. Rovanperä showed his muscles on Saturday and was thus able to handle Sunday. This also allowed him to win the Power Stage and take the five bonus points; but the Finn brought the stage home with his head, staying out of trouble when he needed to.

Next round will be non-European from 28 September to 1 October in Chile!
